Plan of Salvation pamphlets

Joke of the Week: "Why shouldn't you gamble in Africa?" A: They're all cheetahs*
Quote of the Week: "Faith, like love, is a paradox." -President Sagers l think
Hola familia! Firstly, l need a copy of an insurance card? Cause l guess they're changing all the missionaries' primary insurances to their own personal insurance.... and Missionary Medical will be the secondary insurance billed.
Entonces, this week was great! We had a zone conference that went from 9 am to 5 pm! And it felt too short! Haha it's weird how on a mission, meetings become treats to look forward to :) l learned quite a bit. President talked a TON about repentance and doing your best... then l felt like the worst person in the world... cause the Atonement is there for you after you've done your best... but most days l feel like l couldn't even do my best! Cause honestly, l mess up a lot. But then l was teaching a person about how they can feel the "fruits of the Spirit" (Galations) and suddenly the scripture that l share like 5 times a day hit me personally! Those things that l need as a missionary, (patience, benignidad, bondad, etc) are the things l need to have too! And even if l'm not perfect, it's the SPIRIT that heals and sanctifies us... so as long as l'm living worthy of the Spirit (obedience and hard work) then l can be forgiven. That paragraph did not make sense.
l just need to be more. More faithful, more trusting, more ready, more patient... haha it's no wonder they use the terms "enlarge my soul," My soul isn't big enough to be the missionary it should! Haha this letter sounds depressing, but it's really a happy one!
Well... there actually is something depressing to share. Our best investigator is gone.... He moved unexpectedly and we have NO clue where he is. We went to visit like we do cada jueves, and his sister in law (mean white lady) told us that he's gone.... maybe back to Venezuela. lt's very sad. He took our copy of Principles of the Gospel....
Haha so we were walking in this neighborhood and a cop pulled over and followed us to the parking lot (we were very afraid) And he got out and said that all the cops in the neighborhood are worried that we're going to get shot or something! l guess they watch us in the day when we ride bikes and at night when we walk! Hahaha he suggested that we recruit some men to come preach with us, gave us his card, and expressed his deep fears for our lives, virtue, and safety :) It made my day.
It's been raining armadillos and cows here! Twice it caught us while we were biking :) l love it. What could be better than riding a bike in a skirt under a warm waterfall, and singing at the top of your lungs??? NOTHING.
l had a dream about the MTC... everyone had shirts that said "Fishers of Men go crazy in the Empty Sea"... and l was impressed that my subconscious brain could think of a pun as dumb as that.
My new zone leader Elder Henderson told me a funny thing that his grandma sent him after the October announcement: "You better be careful now cause God's going to give all the angels to the sisters!" hahahaha It's truly true though. l don't ever feel afaid around here! The poor elders have to fend for themselves :)
Anyway... the wedding pictures were SO PRETTY! l love the little boys' bowties! And Happy Birthday to Aida! l sent some thing to her, and also to ya'll. THe envelope is STUFFED full, so you'll have to let me know if it makes it :P Well... l dind' take any pictures this week, so just picture an old wet dog wearing weird clothes carrying a cute backpack. That's basically it.
Fort Worth is great! Texas is not!

*Joke brought to you by Jacob Bottelberghe

ps Tell Lake Point l give my condolences for the deaths... But honestly l spend so much time with my nose in the Plan of SAlvation pamphlets it's not really sad right?
Siera that poem was very... merry.
l'm sure you're all too busy to read this and no, we don't have any success stories! Haha our people just won't get baptized :P they won't show up to church. They believe all that we say... but can't drive 5 minutes to come to church :P laskjdlfkj;lakj it's frustrating.
Adios!

Tali in poetry form :)

Quote of the Week: "In the course of justice, none of us should see salvation: we do pray for mercy."- William Shakespeare
Joke of the Week: why do seagulls live by the sea? cause if they lived by the bay they'd be bagels!!!!
Lots has been happening back at my home
So l've decided this week to write you a poem.
This poem may be short, l don't have much time
But l'll try to put meaning in each simple rhyme.
Here in Fort Worth we've had lots of tornadoes
And l'm all out of food, except for tomatoes
But that's alright we're going to the store
After all that is what my Mondays are for.
l wish that l had paper like a tithing slip works
With yellow copies of letters l send from Fort Worth.
My companion's prayers are longer than mine
Thanking God for each chapter of PMG every time.
l almost forgot what happened Saturday
But someone asked where my brother served in Chile.
And l shouted "Oh My!" and sang in my head
The song that l made for the day they were wed.
In my apartment there is a dirty utensil
"Cuchara Cucaracha" the bugs it does kill.
That line was dumb l'm no good at this
If you want to stop reading, there's not much you will miss.
The time here flies faster each day
Only ten more transfers that l get to stay.
My area is really the best in the mission
l hear that other elders and sisters are wishin'
That they could serve here where are many
Mexicans, Hispanics, and Mezcas a plenty.
At this moment my friend from Pine Canyon
Is in my hood, in Fort Worth is landin' :)
l waved at each plane l saw in the sky
And wished him the best...he's a cool guy.
Madre you are creepily good
At sending the most perfect things that you could.
Juice packets are great cause the water tastes gross
And my companion just said l need reflectors the most.
Cause the elders who helped put together my bike
Put mine on backwards, and forward l ride.
Sarah Hardy l say hello, and happy birthday!
And next week l may email on a different day.
This is the end of my random poem to you,
Good luck Siera, long live blue crew.

Slow down and look up!

Quote of the Week: "Ya'll know there's pros and cons when preaching to the belt buckle of the Bible Belt!"
Joke of the Week: Why do seaguls live by the sea? Cause if they lived by the bay they'd be bagels!
Well hello again! It feels like just yesterday since l've talked to you all....
Well l've officially decided that this mission is WAY easier than that of poor John the Baptist... he lived in a desierto and ate locusts and honey and then got thrown in prison and his followers all left and then his head was chopped off cause some stupid lady wanted it. And this mission is way better.
The Lord certainly is hastening his work! Our mission president's goals for us just went from "baptize monthly" to "baptize weekly!" and l guess before it was "baptize transferly" Well we've certainly got a lot of work to do. But it's cool to see the hastening right here in my very own goal papers.
Hey family, remember how nobody ever ate the banana packets of oatmeal from the "fruit and cream" box? Well if you add a spoonful of peanut butter, it's the best dessert you've ever had.
Last week was stake conference, and there was a talk that l really should have listened better to. The catch phrase theme was "Slow down, and look up" And basically l'm awful at bike riding. hahaha l take out mailbokes, stop signs, and resturant daily specials. But also, l was eating my jelly beans, and l almost didn't notice that the green watermelon flavor was RED on the inside! And that might sound dumb, but it made my day that the Jelly Belly people would take the time to make me feel like l was really eating a teeny watermelon. And throughout that day, l "slowed down, and looked up" and saw the little things that God puts in our path to make us happy.
Well l just talked to you all yesterday... but l'm SO excited for Katelyn! The temple is great. Right now one of our recent converts is preparing to go, and she said that she wants to take us too!!!! yahhoooo!
It's so cool to see people changing. Last night, we were talking to these guys and one was telling us all bout his awful life. His parents both committed suicide, and his brother was hit by a car all due to being alcoholics. He wants to change. So of course, we offered to dump out his can of beer. hahaha as we poured it out (just half), l was afraid he was going to punch me, but l just kept on teaching and all was well :)
Hmm well thanks again for all the letters! Mail is el mejor. The only day l'm glad l don't get mail is Sunday, cause it gives me an excuse to quote Harry Potter.
This is all l have to say l think..... so adios! Transfers came and went and left us alone this time so l'll be here for a while more! :)
Que les vaya bien!
Hermana Gomez

Last district meeting with these missionaries before transfers!

The rose and card l got for being such a great mother. and also my bike scars....

Tali loved Elder Cook's talk :)

Quote of the Week: "Facebook wedding announcements are just gay." -President Sager's Wife......
Joke of the Week: What do you call cows at church? Steak conference.
Well phew l'm alive. l am extra relieved this week that l have not perished. Reasons will follow.
First things first, l really do want half-angle formulas sent to me! They are on the tip of my brain and l can't remember them and it's driving me CRAZY! Well also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KATELYN TODAY! :) She is nineteen wahoooo! And congrats to her going through the temple! l can't wait to hear all about her dress and the cute reception and the beautifully cute bridesmaids' dresses.....................:)
Second things second, please don't send me anymore candy. l've lost 7 pounds and l wanna keep going!
Well last week was really great! We had district trainings, new person trainings  and then a mission conference with Elder Quentin L. Cook, and 3 seventy members that l can neither pronounce nor remember their names, and then a stake conference with a member of the seventy! l learned so much this week! It is very easy to find me in the picture of Quentin L. Cook and our mission  because l am RIGHT BEHIND HIM!. Haha he kept turning around and saying, "Sister Gomez, if your mother can't see your face in this picture she will be furious." and kept slouching shorter so l could be seen :) it was cool. He said a lot of very neat things. l also saw Bruce Rosengren and Marcus Jensen from Tooele! They're serving in this mission too!
So we met these people on the street and one was a tall white hobo. He came up to us and was like, "Are you F#@$ French????" (gesturing to our Spanish name tags) and we were like, "no." and then he proceeded to use the "F" word as an adjective, noun, verb, and in both the past and present subjunctive. lf l wasn't laughing so hard, l would have been impressed. Haha but his black wife/novia/mother (l'm not sure)  was like, "l'm so sorry he's just bitter cause he doesn't have a job. But we gave them a card and said good luck :)
It's a secret goal of mine to memorize the Crayola 96, so thank you to all that put up with my letters :)
Here's a miraclito! We had to go to the hospital for my companion, and we just walked right into urgent care and there wasn't a line, (we had citas later that night) and while she was in being all doctored l heard some cool crazy people like "oh my s@#$! l don't think l've EVER see this place empty! at 4 pm?? holy L@#4 it's like someone told all dem hooders there's a shootin!" and that's a miracle cause we had places to be and things to do.
Alright, now for the explanation of my appreciation of life. So we had dinner with the famlilia Medrano, who are really great, and they fed us potatoes (cause they know l love them) and.....chicken. But this chicken was pretty much.... not cooked. (blurb: l was happy that night cause l understood all of the Spanish.  We even teased the new elder visa waiter in Spanish and he didn't understand and l did!) Well around 3 am that morning l woke up and puked. And then the puking did not cease till about 3 am on Sunday. SO the wonderful meeting with President Cook was marred by a feeling of absolute death. BUT when he got up to speak, l felt the Spirit so strong l really was healed! l can't explain it, but l felt the sickness leaving. This was a blessing cause l didn't wanna puke in the chapel. Luckily we didn't have dinner with a member that night. l'm already known as the Hermana who "doesn't eat." ugh.
Addressing this matter will bring to light some of my bitter feelings. l was eating with a member, and she piles this HUGE mountain of rice on my plate. (l'm talking at least half a gallon) My companion had already scolded me about always clearing my plate, so l got to work. l shoveled in huge bitefuls and didn't stop for a breath. l thought l was doing great! hahaha then the member comes up and is like, "Aw... Hermanita, no tienes hambre? o no te gusta mi arroz?" ........ l just about puked on her. hahahaha they expect a lot of eating, but Sister Sagers told us not to be afraid of offending them, and just say no :)
Since l "don't eat" members feel like they have to impress me l guess, cause they try to give me stuff! l've received two pairs of shoes and a scarf in the last week. Sister Olander doesn't ever get anything... but she eats seconds.... so l dunno. Haha l think it's a win-win situation for me! but l do feel a little bad...
Wow l'm long winded today, and there's still more to say! But... hmm oh ya. l sent a birthday thing to Katelyn to Dallin's wyview address! And l guess they've already moved out! so.... um haha ya it's really colorful.
Carlos, if you by chance have seen the "my sounds" folder on my phone, you can delete them all, haha or just please don't listen. Those are all my "songs" l'd think of in the middle of the night and try to record. don't listen hahahaha
Send me a picture of Aila's wedding announcement and Bekah's and Becca's too!!! and thanks for the picture of the house! l want it printed!
aw l have no more time adios.
