A crocodile in a vest

Joke of the Week: What do you call a crocodile in a vest?? An INVESTIGATOR!!!!
Quote of the Week: La vida te trata como tu quieres que te trate." -Nanci Campos. A cool miembro :)
Well this week was AWESOME!!!! We had six investigators at church! Haha l know that numbers aren't important, but being 5th on the mission "top 8" is pretty cool :) We were up on the stand doing the music for sacramental and the Young Women's program, and only 2 of our people were there. THere was a family of 3 that we had REALLY been counting on showing up. But after l played the opening hymn, l looked out again, and 4 more people had walked in!!!!!! We pretty much shouted for joy up on the stand in front of everyone.
l'm so extremely fond of these families :)
That's sweet that Elder Camacho is in our area! We're going to stop by his family this week for sure. Hna. Garcia must have seen a facebook post or something about him, cause she tried to call us yesterday about it, but we had at cita and the phone was cutting out, so l didn't really get what she said. But that's so cool!!!!
Well this week has been a week of growing in "wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man." More fully than l can explain here. But in the stature part, we've been on a pushup craze in this district. l did 500 on Wednesday! And between Allen, Burningham, Hunter and l, we did over 2000 in one day! AND l ran a 6 minute mile again. l'm gonna P.R. this transfer. ANd Hna. Hunter ran one on under 10!
Next week we're going to the temple!!! l haven't been at all since the MTC, so l'm excited. l've also never seen a sealing, and President gave us permission to be children in a sealing! lt will be so cool. Especially in Spanish!
This week has been so crazy. We miss Hna. Barrett and Elder Melville a lot but, it's alright *sniff. Elder Boogieman (l served with him in Hurst) and Elder Burningham are here now, and they're great missionaries.
THe work here is going AWESOME. We've had so many cool experiences that l'll just have to read to y'all from my journal someday. l know that this church is true! lt's truly the only thing that "moth and rust" won't corrupt. We've just got to pick the right treasures. lf our treasures are in the world, our hearts will be in the world. l find myself trying to give my whole heart to GOd, while my treasures are stuck on worldy things. Like J.K. Rowling profoundly quotes, "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Harry Potter rocks.
Keep reading the scriptures. Pray always. And for goodness sakes, go to church. lf seeing people at church makes a silly misionera like me extremely happy, just IMAGINE what God feels when His children keep the sabbath day holy.
con carino,
Hermana Banana

No more tripanionship for Tali

Joke of the Week: What did the baby corn say to the mom corn? A: Where's Popcorn???
Quote of the Week: lf 4/5 people suffer from diarrhea, does that mean that one person enjoys it?
Hahahaha please excuse the crudeness of my quote this week, it's just hilarious. Some of our members tell us the darndest things. :)
Well transfers are here again! l am.......(drum roll) STAYING IN ARLINGTON!!! :) Hermana Hunter is too, but our dear mama Hna. BArrett is going to die in Copperas Cove. No more tripanionship. But we're so excited to be staying. They're also taking out the two ingles speaking companionships in our district so that we're all spanish!!! We're way sad to see them go, but Spanish districts are bomb.
Also, mijo Elder Melville is leaving too....he's off to his second area. l have never seen a ward so attached to a little greenie elder. They call him "el minion" from Despicable Me. Hahaha he's the best.
Well we've had to change our baptismal date for Gabby because she wants to get baptized with her son! And he is SO ready! (Gabby is the sister of my last convert Alicia) This family is on FIRE! We're so excited for them! Alicia told us last week that she feels like she can do anything now that she has the Gospel in her life. She's been coming to work out with us in the mornings, and basically we just love her and her kids to death. the spirit world. judgement. and immortality. and beyond :)
Question, did y'all say that there is family in the ward from Paraguay? Cause if so, you should ask them if they know Guarani. it's a sweet dialect that l may or may not be trying to learn. >:) Stevie (who still needs to be accepted as my friend on facebook) served a mission there and is teaching us how to speak it!
News flash: Kelly Clarkson is from Burleson! That was totally my first area! l feel famous.
Here is another cool slightly non-spiritual story. So last week one of my companions had a dentist emergency, and so l was in the waiting room for a bit. A lady sat down and noticed that l was reading the Old Testament. We started talking about the Bible. Eventually, we got talking about her childhood. Turns out, she grew up on the same property of FRANKLIN AND ELEANOR ROOSEVELT! Her parents worked on their orchards. Eleanor would invite all six of teh kids to go and have tea and crumpets with them! And FDR's dog had puppies adn gave one to this lady! ANd one time when she and her mother were cleaning out the Roosevelt's attic, and Eleanor gave them a cowboy hat signed to her from Gene Autry!
l was pretty astounded. Almost as astounded as l was when l remembered that yesterday l hit 11 months. sick.
l am so happy to be here. The moments, memories, and experiences l've had here are more precious than... anything. l love these people so much! l hope that Carlos and Levi are getting excited, because it's da best. (Nacho Libre voice)
Well, l've got to make me some CD's and send some pictures, so PaZ a vosotros!
-Hermana GOmez

*THe best part about trios is that one of us can entertain the kids while the other two are teaching! My rotation is always with this cool cat Luisito who plays minecraft :)
*Ninja Tortugas. Gift from Stevie :)
*Teaching English to Hna. Vasquez!
*ANd... sometiems we see random gangsters riding horses by the highway adn we stop and they pose for a picture!
*Planning day l found a HUGE piece of popcorn!
*And happy birthday to Stevie! He has personalized shoes that  match his shirt. sick.
*Birthday party/lunch at Babe's Chicken! THey made him do the chicken dance. hahaha so funny. But l think he was actually doing merengue
*the whole crew :) And little Lizzie :)
*OH ya, Elder Homer has a typewriter....
Arlington east zone! yay! Transfers are so sad :(

Don't Eat Pete!

Joke of the Week: Two peanuts walked down a dark alley. One was asalted.............PEANUT :)
Quote of the Week: "l'm not sexist cause sexism is wrong. And being wrong is for women."
Well can l just say that every single day in my journal this week starts out with the WRONG date??? l either mess up the year or the day. But l just can't help it cause time FLIES SO FAST!!!!! D: This is the last week of the transfer! l feel like l just barely unpacked my stuff here in Arlington, and yet 6 weeks have already flown by.
To my mother, l will have you know, that the noche de hogar game of the week has been DON'T EAT PETE! (No te comes a pedro) And everyone loves it.
This week was AWESOME!!! Our district had 3 baptisms this weekend! One of them was my ALICIA!!!! She is awesome. lf feels like just yesterday l asked her if she was down to get baptized (in those exact words) and she said, "ya l'm down!"
And she really did! l can't even explain how much we love that family. Her sister should be getting baptized this weekend if she can get married thsi week. Pray for them!
COol story! So one of my ward mission leaders knows the Gomezes in Piedras Negras! He remembered Rubi, la hija del patriarcha Gomez. His name is Jose Villanueva y sus abuelos son Antonia y Jose Paulino Villanueva. Woohoo for family connections!
Also, Hna. Garcia is STOKED that we're Arredondos!!! Her kids Stevie and Mayra
 are officially my cousins :)
We also had entrevistas with President Ames this week! He couldn't be more different that President Sagers was.... Hahaha with Pres. Sagers, we were in and out within a few minutes, but with Pres. Ames, it's always WAY behind schedule. But that's good because we truly have a chance to talk with him. The revelation that he recieves is REAL.
We found a super cool part member family last night. For some reason, finding and teaching them helped me "catch the wave" once again :) l love this work!
Word of caution.... always be nice to new comers at church. ALWAYS. nuff said.
lf anyone could find a CD with "Cri Cri" children songs on it..... that'd be awesome
Paz. LEs quiero bastante. Parangaricutirimicuaro. Paricuti.
-Hermana Gomez

So..... an english elder thinks that spray on tan is a good idea....... But he really just looks like an Oompa Loompa.

 No te comes a Pedro!!!
And fun times in the car :)

Se bautizo!!!!!! And sleepy elderes after we had an IHOP Baptism celebration. :)

Arredondo primos!

Pictures from Hna Barrett's camera :) Haha... sometimes studying spanish isn't as interesting as it should be

It's a small world...

Joke of the Week: "What did the pony say? Excuse me l'm a little hoarse."
Quote of the Week: Brethren be not children in understanding. Howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men. - Pablo
THank you for those pictures of the Gomez family! That's so cool that they're all together! And what ciudades do Hugo, Carlos, y Juan live in??  Tampico, Tamolipas? l love that everyone is smiling in that picture. Haha people here don't like to smile for pictures :P
Well crazy news of the week, Elder Allen is from ldaho and he KNOWS DALLIN HARDY!!!!!! Such a small world.
Well this week has been great! We have been working a TON with one of our investigators, she's a single mom with 3 adorable kids. Her baptism date is for the 11th. We were so so sad cause on Friday afternoon she told us that she probably wasn't going to be able to come to church or her baptism cause she had to work. BUT on Saturday morning she texted us "guess who's coming to church??" And guess what??? SHE QUIT!!!! So she can go to church and be baptized! We are so proud of her. lt's a huge step of faith that she's taken, and the Lord is going to bless her so much.
l love this area so much! Haha my companions are still super afraid to knock doors when it gets dark, but l try to get them to anyway :)
FELIZ DIA DE LOS REYES MAGOS!!!!! We're totally having a rosca today. l hope y'all put out your shoes.
Oh and Happy New Year! We stayed up all the way till 10:30! Haha and we ate 12 grapes during the last 12 seconds of "2013" to have good luck! l only got 5 shoved in my mouth. But l guess that's alright cause we did it at the missionary version of midnight (9:00) But all in all, it was a great year. l feel like l just barely started 2013 and left on my mission, but alas, time passes by.
Well... this is about all l have to say! l will send pictures. But if you want a constant stream of my life, check out Beatriz Garcia on Facebook. Hahaha she's documented it all! (Mom you should be her friend too!) She's pretty much the best :) Hasta Ver
-Hermana Gomez

Pictures. Hahaha these are from CiCi's Pizza. l may or may not have dared these poor people to eat insane amounts of pizza............>:)

They were so angry with me! But it was THEIR choice :)

The hand signals mean "21 pieces of Pizza" Melville broke the previous record. So the new record is 31!!!
CUte little Adan and Nashley! l love them!

Also... never mix an elder and wash off tatoos!

l have  aTON more pictures to add but only 5 minutes so l probably will have to send them another time :P

Note from Nancy - - I did become friends with Sister Garcia on FB - and found out we are probably related :)   She is an Arredondo - and I have done tons of family history work on Medardo's dad's side - - and we have lots of Arredondo's from the same area of Mexico she is from :)  Small world.
